Town Manager's Proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Budget

On January 6, 2025, Town Manager Colin Loiselle opened the Fiscal Year 2026 budget planning process with a presentation to the Select Board about the financial landscape surrounding the budget planning process. Over the course of the next few months, this page will be updated to include formal budget proposals and ultimately the final recommended budget that will be presented to Town Meeting on May 6, 2025.

Budget Schedule:

January 6, 2025: Initial discussion with Select Board about budget planning and Town's financial position

January 14, 2025: Town Manager presents initial draft recommended budget to the Finance Committee

January 27, 2025: Town Manager presents refinded budget recommendation to the Select Board

February 24, 2025: Tri-Board Meeting with Select Board, School Committee, and Finance Committee to discuss FY26 budget, capital planning, and long-term financial planning.

March 25, 2025: The Final Fy26 Capital Plan is presented to the Select Board

April 7, 2025: Tri-Board Meeting with Select Board, School Committee, Finance Committee, and state legislators to review projected state aid, overall revenues, and discuss new growth and revenue share. Additionally, Town Manager presents final balanced budget for consideration at Town Meeting.

April 14, 2025: Final Review of Budget & Select Board vote to post and make recommendations on Town Meeting Warrant.

April 29, 2025: Pre-Town Meeting Information Session

May 6, 2025: Annual Town Meeting -- 7 PM at Tyngsborough Elementary School

Budget Office Hours

Town Manager Colin Loiselle is pleased to once again offer Budget Office Hours as a part of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget planning process. First introduced for the FY25 budget, these meetings are intended to be informal opportunities for residents to meet with Town staff and review the budget in intimate and more comfortable settings than on the floor of Town Meeting. In each session, the budget is presented and staff are available to answer any questions. The goal is that residents will have the opportunity to better familiarize themselves with the budget before being asked to approve it at Town Meeting on May 6th.

This year's budget meetings will take place on the following days:

1) Monday, April 7, 2025 at 1pm at the Center for Active Living

2) Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 5 PM - Virtual (Visit Town's Calendar for dial-in information)

3) Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 6:30 PM at Town Hall 

No registration is required. Residents who are unable to attend one of the session above should contact the Town Manager's Office to set up a separate meeting.
